Douro & Porto Wine Festival 2026

Wine, food and big-name concerts under the terraced hills of the Douro. On 3 and 4 July 2026, the fifth edition of the Douro & Porto Wine Festival takes over Lamego, deep in the world's oldest demarcated wine region — and it's the perfect excuse to spend a weekend on the river.

What it is

The Douro & Porto Wine Festival is one of the Iberian Peninsula's largest celebrations of wine and gastronomy, held each summer in Lamego, a short drive from the river at Peso da Régua. Expect tastings from Douro and Port producers, a live-cooking food village and two nights of concerts running from 6:00 pm to 2:00 am, with the vineyards as a backdrop.

Food: the Fogo de Chão village

Beyond the wine, the festival's gastronomy space — Fogo de Chão — is curated by chef Renato Cunha and brings together eight acclaimed chefs cooking live, Portuguese-inspired dishes. Come hungry: it's as much a food festival as a wine one.

Getting there

Lamego sits just above the river near Peso da Régua, about 100 km east of Porto (roughly 1h15 by car or a scenic train ride along the Douro line). On festival nights, free shuttles and river transfers connect free parking areas in Lamego, Cambres and Peso da Régua to the site — the easiest way to avoid the crowds and enjoy the wine responsibly.

Make a weekend of it — on the water

The festival is a reason to be in the Douro; the river is the reason to stay. The valley that grows these wines is even more beautiful seen from a boat, gliding past the terraced slopes with a glass in hand. Our Douro Valley Discovery is a private day on the water in exactly this landscape — pair it with your festival weekend for the full Douro experience. If you're still deciding when to come, see our guide to the best time to sail in Porto and the Douro.
